Scratchpad Accelerator, a startup-business accelerator in Bangor, has received an $80,000 commitment from the Maine Technology Institute.
Scratchpad will use the money to support its 2019 accelerator programs: one focused on female-founded companies and the other focused on institutional and academic spin-offs targeting startups in Maine and Northern New England. The accelerator is managed by Jason Harkins, an associate professor of entrepreneurship at the Maine Business School, and Lisa Liberatore, a serial entrepreneur with a master’s degree in educational leadership.
MTI intends to provide multi-year support to Scratchpad.
“MTI is excited to partner with Scratchpad Accelerator as it launches its next accelerator cohort,” Brian Whitney, president of MTI, said in a statement. “Scratchpad’s unique role serving female founders and companies spinning out of academic settings helps us achieve our own goals of supporting innovators and entrepreneurs in Maine.”
The news follows an announcement in March that Bangor Savings Bank would become the accelerator’s first corporate partner, providing $150,000 over three years to help support the programs.
