CourseStorm, an Orono-based software company that’s developed a cloud-based course-registration platform used by organizations with educational offerings, has announced the creation of its COVID-19 Education Relief Fund.

The company will distribute up to $10,000 among its customers that that have experienced financial hardship due to loss of revenue from COVID-19, according to a news release from the company. The company will begin accepting applications on April 3; aid will be given to the programs that demonstrate the most need. Decisions are expected to be made the week of April 27, according to the company.

“The vast majority of our customers are small, non-profit organizations that lack the financial cushioning of larger institutions and are, therefore, feeling a disproportionate impact on their programs,” Matt James, CourseStorm’s COO, said in a statement. “We have been awed by the creativity and determination of our customers to adapt to the situation rapidly, but we’re also keenly aware that more help is needed.”
