Dirigo Labs, the new startup accelerator in Waterville, has opened applications for startups that want to join its inaugural cohort.
The 12-week accelerator program, which is scheduled to begin in March, will provide founders with a curated curriculum around building and scaling a business, as well as provide startup tools, access to a diverse local and national mentor network, and funding opportunities to rapidly grow and scale operations.
Central Maine Growth Council designed and led the initiative to create Dirigo Labs and make it a catalyst in establishing a vibrant startup hub in the central Maine region. Last year, the organization received approximately $600,000 from the Economic Development Agency’s Build-to Scale Venture Challenge to fund the project. It also earlier this year received a $25,000 grant to support the creation of Dirigo Labs from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
“The accelerator presents a tremendous opportunity to showcase the central Maine region and the significant resources available to startup companies,” Susan Ruhlin, Dirigo Labs’ managing director, said in a statement. “When you bring together entrepreneurs, mentors, subject matter experts, and the investment community, the byproduct is the spark that builds a critical mass of new companies.”
Startups and potential mentors who are interested in learning more about Dirigo Labs and submitting an application can visit www.dirigolabs.org.
