Pumpspotting, the Kittery-based startup I wrote about a few weeks ago, won $75,000 at last week’s MassChallenge final event.

As part of Mass Challenge and for the first time this year, PepsiCo awarded $150,000 to two startups that are developing innovative solutions in the business services and food & beverage spaces. Pumpspotting won for business services.

Founder Amy VanHaren tells Maine Startups Insider that she’ll use the prize money to create a beta lactation corporate wellness program to help women in the workforce successfully transition back to work while breastfeeding.

“The award is exciting because we’ll be able to bring on team members and developers and to continue paving a way for support for working mothers,” she said.

Pumpspotting was one of 128 startups that took part in MassChallenge’s Boston-based startup accelerator program, and was one of only 26 finalists that took part in last week’s final event.

“Overall, we had a tremendous MassChallenge experience. In a few short months we were able to really define our business plan and to gain introductions to mentors and experts who are helping us make inroads in fundraising, advocacy and corporate partnerships,” VanHaren said. “It’s opened a tremendous amount of doors for us. We went in to MassChallenge with a side hustle and an idea that was starting to build and we are leaving with a real business before us and the tools to scale.”
