Entrepreneurs in York County will have the chance to test their pitching skills at a new event series that begins next month.
Pitch York County, hosted by Think Tank Biddeford, will feature three pitch competitions over three months, with the winners of each monthly event facing off in January 2017 for a yet-to-be-announced grand prize.
The first pitch event will be held Oct. 18 at 6 p.m. at Think Tank Biddeford. The next two will be on Nov. 15 and Dec. 13.
Each monthly pitch event will have a cash prize with the grand prize in January being a “heftier amount,” according to Patrick Roche, owner of Think Tank Biddeford and one of the organizers of the event series. A panel of judges will select the winner each month. Judges will be an assortment of folks from SCORE, the Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development, New Ventures Maine (that’s the new name, in case you didn’t know, of Maine Centers for Women, Work, and Community) and OptiCliff Law, among others.
To be eligible to pitch, the entrepreneur’s business must be located in York County and have less than $100,000 in annual revenue. For more information, and to apply to pitch, go here.
How many entrepreneurs will be allowed to pitch at each event will remain unclear until the applications start rolling in and organizers can gauge the level of interest. But Roche anticipates there’ll be six to 10 pitches for the first three rounds, with three finalists pitching in January.
Biddeford Savings Bank has come on as a sponsor of Pitch York County and provided $5,000 to go towards the event and prize pool.
