Greenlight Maine, the television show that has entrepreneurs compete against one another to win over a panel of judges with their business pitch, has launched a new collegiate edition of the show, the inaugural episode of which is airing tomorrow morning, Sunday, March 17.
The college startups that will compete in the inaugural season of the Maine Collegiate Challenge are:
- KinoTek from UMaine
- Zephyrus from UMaine
- Ruggette from Colby College
- Outdoorly from Colby College
- Rost from Colby College
- Floor from Bates College
- Ferda Farms from UMaine
- Martin Stream Campground from Central Maine Community College
- RentScore from UMaine
- Unforseen Globetrotting from Southern Maine Community College
The first episode will feature pitches from Justin Hafner, co-founder and CEO of KinoTek, and Patrick Breeding, co-founder and CEO of Zephyrus. Both are startups out of UMaine that are in the health technology space. The episode is scheduled to air 10 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, on WCSH 6 in Portland and WLBZ 2 in Bangor. Only one of the entrepreneurs will move on to the semifinals.
The winner of the Maine Collegiate Challenge, which will be decided on the final episode to air on April 21, will win $25,000.
Greenlight Maine also recently named the three finalists in its main competition that will vie for the $100,000 grand prize on the final episode, which will air April 28. The finalists are American Roots, Flowfold and Ocean’s Balance.
